Symptoms of Verticillium wilt appear when leaves on one or more branches of the tree suddenly wilt early in the growing season; this process intensifies as the season progresses. Death of mature trees infected with Verticillium is possible.
Additional information
The verticillium wilt does not alter the oil´s quality. The affected olive-trees tend to resprout, although the disease may reappear in ensuing years. Given the difficulties in managing the fungus once contracted, it is advisable not to plant olive-trees in infested lands and to use pathogen-free planting equipment.
