Agriculture | n. phr.
An insect considered as an olive-tree plague which in adulthood is a small silver-gray butterfly and when young hibernates inside leaves to subsequently penetrate the fruit and cause its falling off.

Example

The damage caused to olive orchards by Prays oleae fluctuates every year, depending on the climatic conditions. The second and third generation are the most harmful as infestations at these times reduce the fruitset and also cause the premature fall of olives. The economic losses due to Prays oleae damage are function of the final infestation and the olive yield of the year considered.
